Hillside Challenges between the gardener & Mother Nature

Location: Hillside, lots of hot sun, wind, and very open to prairie elements
No Power: No running water: No water well..........So.......
we must be creative in our survival and growth........and production............
1. rain barrels
2. respect water and use to the fullest...hauled in by truck...
3. Use approximately up-to-5100 gals of water per season ....
4. Plant adaptable species able to sustain the elements
5. Usually use little fertilizer in spring and summer, but lots in late fall, so the snow will help you out...
6. Mulch, mulch, and more mulch.........as the exposed soil drys very quickly.....
            So far this has worked for us.......
